Lighthouse Family Wellness Center was one of the first clinics in southern California to obtain the FDA-approved LiteCure LCT-1000 Class 4 Therapy Laser. This technology is called Deep Tissue Laser Therapy which offers targeted tissue penetration down to levels that promote faster healing in both humans and animals.
Due to this penetration, we can now treat conditions in deep areas such the lower (lumbar) spine very effectively. Treatment times are also much shorter. What used to take us 30 minutes to treat a knee injury with a class 3 laser takes us just a few minutes with the LiteCure LCT-1000 Class 4 Therapy Laser. Not only are the treatment times reduced, the therapeutic effectiveness is much greater with this device.
Today, medical lasers for therapeutic applications such as pain management are beginning to gain increased recognition.
Many clinics have implemented Class 3 Therapy Lasers or "cold lasers" into their clinical setting. These lasers usually only have a power output of 0.5 watts or less (compared to up to 10 watts for the Class 4). They can help injuries to elbows, wrists, ankles, and knees but not as well as a Class 4 Laser. The treatment times usually last much longer for weaker results. Due to the lack of power in these lasers, the skin penetration is only a couple to few centimeters. With the Class 4 laser, we can reach up to 15 centimeters deep,
Even veterinarians are discovering the Class 4 Laser as it aids them greatly when working with musculoskeletal problems for dogs, cats, and horses. At Lighthouse Family Wellness Center, we also treat dogs and sometimes cats with the Class 4 Laser. This is a great alternative for dogs with hip dysplasia (results in trouble walking) as well as other musculo-skeletal problems.
